Previewing the top five sports betting events from 11/23 through 11/29

Previewing the top five sports betting events from 11/23 through 11/29

It may seem like it has been 100 years, but it was actually only months ago that the college basketball season came crashing down right before March Madness. But after a long hiatus, college hoops is ready to join the rest of the sports world. It won’t be a normal season. But what is normal these days, anyway? No matter what it looks like, it’s nice to see college basketball finally back in the fold. While the usually holiday tournaments are depleted, there is still an excellent matchup between title contenders to usher in the new season.

This week, we also have rivalries in college football and an elite Thanksgiving matchup in the NFL. Without further ado, let’s breakdown the best sports betting events for the week ahead.

5. NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Date: Sunday, November 29

Time: 4:25 p.m. est.

Location: Tampa Bay, Florida

Spread via Wager Champs: Chiefs -3

The best quarterback of all-time against one of the most talented young quarterbacks we’ve ever seen? Yes, please! The Patrick Mahomes led Kansas City Chiefs are 9-1 this season after avenging their only loss last week. Meanwhile, Brady and the Bucs have been inconsistent. They crushed the Packers and Raiders this year, but are just 7-4 despite all their heralded weapons.

At home and coming off a loss, the Bucs desperately need to make a statement against the best team in the NFL. With just a 3-point spread, oddsmakers thinks they’ll have a chance to do so.

4. CFB: Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers

Date: Saturday, November 28

Time: 3:30 p.m. est.

Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama

Spread via Wager Champs: Alabama -24

Alabama has been dominant this season and looks poised to cruise into the playoff without even a scratch. Auburn, on the other hand, has been slightly disappointing. But in a rivalry game, none of that matters. Throw all records out the window. These teams hate each other and it does seem like we are due for some college football chaos.

Very smart people in Vegas think this one will be a blowout. But those same very smart people have been fooled by rivalry game magic before. Let’s see what the Iron Bowl has in store this time!

3. CBB: Kansas Jayhawks vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Date: Thursday, November 26

Time: 1:30 p.m. est.

Location: Fort Myers, Florida

Spread via Wager Champs: Gonzaga -2.5

While Covid-19 made college basketball’s usual Thanksgiving tournaments impossible this year, #1 Gonzaga vs. #6 Kansas isn’t a bad consolation prize. The Zags head into the season as the favorite to win the national championship. They feature preseason All-American forward Corey Kispert, 5-star guard Jalen Suggs, and another potential lottery pick in guard Joel Ayayi.

Meanwhile, Kansas is still Kansas. The blue-blooded Jayhawks looked like the National Championship favorite last season after not losing a game since January. While they lost a lot from that team, they are still deep, talented, and well-coached.

It isn’t the Maui Invitational or the Champion’s Classic. But this game will be a great unofficial kickoff to what should be a wacky college hoops season.

2. CFB: Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. UNC Tarheels

Date: Friday, November 27

Time: 3:30 p.m. est.

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina

Spread via Wager Champs: Notre Dame -5

What’s better than a little Friday afternoon football?

After being ranked #2 and ahead of Ohio State by the College Football Playoff Committee, all the Fighting Irish have to do is not stumble on their way to the ACC Championship Game. But an extremely talented UNC team on the road might pose some problems. There’s a reason they are only 5-point favorites.

UNC has an explosive offense led by superstar quarterback and future first-round pick Sam Howell. They are averaging 51 points per game over their last four ACC games. If not for a pair of three-point road losses, UNC would be undefeated and this game would likely be between top-five teams.

Don’t let UNC being ranked 19th fool you. This team can play, and if Notre Dame isn’t careful, their dream season might come crashing down.

1. NFL: Baltimore Ravens vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Date: Thursday, November 26

Time: 8:20 p.m. est.

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Spread via Wager Champs: Steelers -3

No matter how much turkey and stuffing you eat for dinner, make sure you stay awake for this game. The Steelers are looking to be the first team to finish the regular season 16-0 since the 2007 Patriots. There are some tricky games left on their schedule, but this might be the hardest one.

The Ravens and Steelers have always had one of the most underrated rivalries in sports. These games are always bloody. They are the types of games even your uncle who whines about how soft football is getting can appreciate. With how physical these defenses are, this year’s game will be no different.

So as you're struggling to watch the crap bowls featuring the Lions, Texans, Cowboys, and Washington earlier in the day, just remember that real Thanksgiving football is right around the corner.
